I'M HERE TONIGHT TO CONTINUE OUR RECOGNITIONS THAT WE DID LAST MONTH OF OUR GOLDEN OF OUR ANGEL MEMBERSHIPS FOR COUNCIL PTA.

TONIGHT, WE HAVE TWO GOLDEN DELICIOUS AND THOSE ARE FOR JOINING ALL THE PTAS IN GPISD.

AND OUR FIRST ONE GOES TO DR.

THANK YOU. FIFTY YEARS AGO, THE GPISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION WAS CREATED BY RUTHIE JACKSON AND JOHN WRIGHT AND A GROUP OF LEADERS REPRESENTING THE GREATER GRAND PRAIRIE COMMUNITY.

THE MISSION OF THAT GROUP HAS NOT CHANGED OVER THE PAST HALF CENTURY AS THE GROUP STILL OPERATES TO PROMOTE EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE AND TO INSPIRE COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP, COMMITMENT, CONFIDENCE AND PRIDE IN GPISD.

ALONG WITH BEING THE FIRST AND NOW LONGEST SERVING EDUCATION FOUNDATION IN TEXAS, THE GROUP CAN ALSO BOAST THAT OVER THE LAST 10 YEARS IT HAS PUT ONE MILLION DOLLARS BACK INTO THE GRAND PRAIRIE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT.

AND NOW WE'D LIKE TO CIRCLE BACK ON A RECOGNITION THAT WE WERE UNABLE TO DO LAST MONTH.

TONIGHT, WE HAVE THE HONOR OF RECOGNIZING SOME SPECIAL STAFF MEMBERS AS THE CULMINATION OF OUR HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH ACTIVITIES.

THE HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH AWARDS RECOGNIZED FOUR OF OUR MOST DISTINGUISHED HISPANIC TEACHERS WHO HAVE SHOWN CONSISTENT LEADERSHIP AND EXCELLENCE.

THESE TEACHERS ARE MENTORS.

THEY MODEL THEIR SCHOOL CULTURE AND PROVIDE GUIDANCE ABOUT INSTRUCTION, CURRICULUM, PROCEDURE AND PRACTICES.

THEY HAVE DEMONSTRATED A STRONG COMMITMENT TO CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT.

THEY ARE PASSIONATE. THEY PASSIONATELY ADVOCATE FOR ALL STUDENTS, ESPECIALLY THE ONES THAT THEY REPRESENT. THEY ARE PASSIONATE FOR DIFFERENTIATED AND ENGAGING INSTRUCTION.

THERE ARE A LIVING EXAMPLE OF COLLABORATION AMONG TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS.

THESE EDUCATORS WERE CHOSEN FROM A SELECT GROUP OF MORE THAN 60 TEACHERS FROM ACROSS THE DISTRICT. BEFORE WE BRING THEM UP, WE'D LIKE TO SHOW YOU THIS VIDEO HIGHLIGHTING OUR WINNERS, LUIS? [VIDEO] [APPLAUSE] WE'RE GOING TO HAND OUT SOME AWARDS AND VERONICA BENZVI, OUR WORLD LANGUAGES AND CULTURES FACILITATOR IS GOING TO HELP ME.

SO WE'VE GOT OUR WATCH PARTY AND WE'RE JUST SO EXCITED TODAY, THIS EVENING, BECAUSE WE WANT TO CELEBRATE OUR CAMPUSES THAT HAVE BEEN RECOGNIZED BY THE LONE STAR STATE SCHOOL COUNSELING ASSOCIATION, WHICH IS THE ASSOCIATION FOR SCHOOL COUNSELORS IN THE STATE OF TEXAS. AND WE HAVE SEVERAL SCHOOLS THAT HAVE WON AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING COUNSELING PROGRAMS. AND SO WE WANT TO CELEBRATE THEM TODAY.

SO THERE ARE THREE LEVELS BRONZE, SILVER AND GOLD.

AND THEN THE HIGHEST ONE WITH GOLD GOES TO THE NATIONAL LEVEL.

SO WE'RE GOING TO START OFF WITH OUR BRONZE AWARDS WINNERS.

AND WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS ONE, BECAUSE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAS ACTUALLY NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE.

OUR BRONZE WINNERS ARE A PROGRAM INSTEAD OF A SCHOOL.

IT IS THE DRUG PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION PROGRAM AT JOHNSON DAEP HAVING AN OUTSTANDING PROGRAM. SO I'D LIKE TO BRING UP TO THE FRONT DR.

TAMEKA LEWIS.

AND UMEKA WRIGHT FROM THE DRUG PROGRAM AT JOHNSON DAEP.

BUT THIS IS AN AMAZING TEAM OF JUST OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONALS THAT COME FROM THE YOUNG MEN'S LEADERSHIP ACADEMY.

THIS PARTICULAR TEAM IS ON THEIR WAY TO BEING NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED AS ONE HAVING ONE OF THE BEST COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMS IN THE UNITED STATES.

AND JUST AS A GROUP, WE STARTED OFF WITH COUNSELING SERVICES, BEING JUST COUNSELORS AND IS EVOLVED INTO BEING COUNSELORS, SOCIAL WORKER AND COLLEGE ADVISORS BECAUSE OF THIS ONE PERSON. SO IN ORDER TO HAVE AN EFFECTIVE, COMPREHENSIVE COUNSELING PROGRAM, DISTRICT WIDE ADVOCACY IS THE KEY.

THANK YOU FOR BEING A STRONG ADVOCATE FOR ALL COUNSELING SERVICES STAFF AND GIVING US THE OPPORTUNITY TO GROW IN NUMBERS AND CREATE A COLLABORATIVE TEAM WHICH ENHANCES THE SUPPORTS PROVIDED TO STUDENTS AND THE FAMILIES WE SERVE.

WILLIAMS IS ONE OF 367 SCHOOLS ACROSS THE ENTIRE COUNTRY TO ACHIEVE THIS HONOR THIS YEAR.

THEY'RE ONE OF ONLY 19 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS TO RECEIVE THIS HONOR IN THE STATE OF TEXAS.

THEY ARE ONE OF ONLY 11 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS SELECTED AS AN EXEMPLARY ACHIEVEMENT GAP CLOSING SCHOOL. TONIGHT, WE HAVE WITH US FORMER PRINCIPAL AMI POTTS, CURRENT PRINCIPAL MESIAS TREJO, AND MEMBERS OF HIS STAFF.

PLEASE JOIN ME IN RECOGNIZING HOBBS WILLIAMS, THE 2020 NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL.

THE RATINGS ARE ASSIGNED BY THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY AND AS I STATED WHILE AGO, IT USES AUDITED FINANCIAL INFORMATION FOR OUR 2018, 19 SCHOOL YEAR.

THE FIRST FIVE INDICATORS ARE CALLED CRITICAL INDICATORS.

SECONDLY THE INTERIOR SURVEY TO EXAMINE THE LAYOUT CONDITION AND OTHER ASPECTS OF THE INTERIOR OF OUR BUILDINGS.

THE POLICY SURVEY WAS TO EXAMINE WHETHER THE DISTRICT WAS FOLLOWING THE SAFETY POLICIES IN EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN AS BEING IMPLEMENTED IN OUR DISTRICT.

ARE WE TRULY FOLLOWING OUR SAFETY PLAN? FINALLY, IT LOOKED AT THE NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.

TO SEE IF OUR LEADERS HAD BEEN TRAINED IN THAT ASPECT.

TEXAS SAFETY SCHOOL CENTER PROVIDES EVERY DISTRICT AND AUDITOR WITH THOSE ITEMS A LIST OF ITEMS THAT THE AUDITOR IS TO LOOK AT.

THEY GIVE US THE TEXAS SAFETY SCHOOL GIVE US 16 ITEMS THAT THE AUDITOR IS TO EXAMINE WHEN HE OR SHE COMES BEFORE A DISTRICT OUR DISTRICT.

FIRST, THEY LOOK AT THE FLOOR PLANS, THE MAPS OF OUR FACILITIES.

THEY ALSO LOOK AT THE CAMPUS BADGE POLICY.

THEY LOOK AT OUR DISTRICT EOP AND ALSO THE CAMPUS EOP.

THEY LOOK AT OUR CRISIS MANAGEMENT PLAN.

THEY ALSO LOOKED AT OUR AERIAL PHOTOS OF OUR FACILITIES AND THEY LOOKED AT THE DOCUMENTATION OF OUR DRILLS AND OUR EXERCISE.

ALSO, THEY WANTED TO KNOW WHETHER WE HAD A PARENT CHILD REUNIFICATION PLAN.

WHEN WE HAVE TO EVACUATE A BUILDING AND GO TO ANOTHER SITE.

WHAT IS OUR PLAN FOR REUNIFYING THE PARENTS WITH THE STUDENT? SO ALL OF THAT IS THE TYPE OF INFORMATION THAT THEY LOOK FOR.

WE CERTAINLY ARE PROUD OF WHAT WE HAVE IN PLACE.

AND WHAT I WANT TO SAY IS WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO WORK TOWARDS PERFECTION.

THE AUDITOR GIVES US ACCOMMODATIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS.

SO I WILL SHARE WITH YOU SOME OF THE ACCOMMODATIONS THAT HE SAW AS THEY WENT THROUGH OUR FACILITIES. THIS IS ONE, AND I THINK YOU CAN BE PROUD OF IT.

THE DISTRICT IS COMMENDED FOR THE OVERALL CLEANLINESS AND APPEARANCE OF THE DISTRICT FACILITIES. WE ARE CERTAINLY PROUD OF WHAT WE HAVE AND WE CERTAINLY WILL TAKE CARE OF THE INVESTMENT THAT THE TAXPAYERS MAKE IN OUR FACILITIES.

THE DISTRICT IS COMMENDED FOR HAVING A DOOR NUMBERING SCHEME IN PLACE AT ALL FACILITIES THAT WERE AUDITED.

WE HAD WE NEED TO HAVE NUMBERS ON THE DOORS.

SO WHEN FIRST RESPONDERS COME, IF WE HAVE A PARTICULAR AREA THAT WE NEED THE FIRST RESPONDERS TO COME TO, WE CAN GIVE THEM THE NUMBER OF THAT DOOR AND THEY CAN FIND THAT DOOR EASILY. THIS ONE WE CAN CERTAINLY BE PROUD OF.

THE DISTRICT IS COMMENDED FOR THE SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS THAT WERE IMPLEMENTED AFTER THE 2017 AUDIT.

IT IS CLEAR TO THE AUDIT TEAM THAT THE LEADERSHIP EMBRACES MANY OF THE SUGGESTIONS THAT WAS SUGGESTED FROM THAT PARTICULAR AUDIT.

WE DON'T JUST WE DON'T JUST TAKE THIS AUDIT AND PUT IT ON THE SHELF.

WE CERTAINLY HAVE BEEN WORKING SINCE THIS AUDIT TAKING PLACE.

THE DISTRICT HAS ALSO COMMENDED FOR ITS CONTINUOUS EFFORT TO ENSURE THAT ALL FACULTY ADMINISTRATORS ARE TRAINED IN THE NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.

THAT IS SOME OF THE THINGS THAT HE WANTED TO POINT OUT AS COMMENDATION FOR US.

AND THEN HE POINTED OUT THE THINGS THAT WE NEED TO WORK ON.

OUR EDGE NETWORK SWITCHES AT ALL CAMPUSES DESPERATELY NEED TO BE REPLACED.

WE USED TO BE ABLE TO REPLACE BASED OFF OF SPARES, BUT WE'VE USED ALL OF OUR SPARES AND NOW WE'RE DOWN TO TAKING SOMETHING, STEALING, ROBBING PETER TO PAY PAUL.

OUR WIRELESS ACCESS POINTS ARE SIX TO TEN YEARS OLD AND IN DESPERATE NEED OF UPGRADE.

ERATE FUNDS CONTINUE TO PLAY A MAJOR PART IN THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS GEAR, BUT WILL NOT COVER THE ENTIRE COST.

ERATE IS A VERY TEDIOUS PROCESS AND IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR APPLICATION ONCE A YEAR AND IT COMES IN FIVE YEAR FUNDING CYCLES.

WE APPLY EACH YEAR AND HISTORICALLY HAVE RECEIVED AWARDS OF REIMBURSEMENT BASED ON OUR FREE AND REDUCED PERCENTAGES.

IN CATEGORY ONE, WE RECEIVE 90 PERCENT REIMBURSEMENT AND IN CATEGORY TWO RECEIVE 85 PERCENT REIMBURSEMENT.

SO AS LONG AS WE AS LONG AS AFTER FIVE YEARS, WE MAINTAIN THAT SORT OF WARRANTY OR MAINTENANCE PROTECTION PLAN, THEN IT IS FULLY COVERED AT THAT FRACTION OF THE COST EACH YEAR THAN WHAT WE WERE HAVING TO PAY UP FRONT JUST TO PUT ALL THE GEAR IN.

SO A LOT A LOT OF THE A LOT OF THAT WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF.

BUT WITH WHAT WE'RE PROPOSING WE GET TO KEEP THOSE SWITCHES AND THEN THE THINGS THAT WE TAKE OUT, WE CAN USE SOME OF THOSE FOR SPARES FOR THAT.

THEY'VE MADE A FOOTPRINT. AND HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR THE LEADERSHIP IN OUR CURRENT TECHNOLOGY WITH OUR CURRENT EMPLOYEES, WE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ANYWHERE WITHOUT THESE IPADS. AND I MEAN, WE WE WOULD BE IN A WORLD OF TROUBLE RIGHT NOW.

SO OBVIOUSLY, YOU KNOW, AS A BOARD, WE HAVE FINANCES TO CONSIDER.

BUT THE INFRASTRUCTURE, YOU KNOW, TO NOT UPDATE THAT AND TO NOT GO FORWARD WITH THAT ALMOST JUST WASTES ALL THE MONEY AND TIME THAT WE'VE PUT INTO THE REST OF THIS, YOU KNOW, SO I THINK THE TRUST AND SUPPORT FOR OUR TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT, I KNOW FOR ME ANYWAY, SPEAKING SOLELY FOR MYSELF IS DEFINITELY IN PLACE.

AND YOU GUYS HAVE DONE AN OUTSTANDING JOB WITH WHAT YOU'VE BEEN GIVEN AND WITH THE TAXPAYERS DOLLARS AND WHATNOT.

AND IF WE CAN GET OVER THE FINANCIAL PART OF IT, MAN, I'M SOLD ON WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING BECAUSE I KNOW THAT YOU HAVE BEST INTERESTS AT HEART, SO THANK YOU FOR THE WORK YOU'VE PUT IN. APPRECIATE THAT.

HELLO, GOOD EVENING TO BOARD PRESIDENT AARON KING, SUPERINTENDENT MS. ELLIS AND BOARD MEMBERS, IT IS OUR PLEASURE TO PRESENT TO YOU TONIGHT LEVEL THREE [INAUDIBLE] BOARD GOALS WHERE WE WILL FOCUS ON CCMR PROGRESS MEASURES.

IF YOU REMEMBER TWO MONTHS AGO, WE LEARNED THAT THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE LAST YEAR DECIDED

THAT ALL LOCAL SCHOOL BOARDS SHOULD ADOPT BOARD GOALS IN THREE KEY AREAS.

THOSE THREE AREAS ARE EARLY CHILDHOOD LITERACY, EARLY CHILDHOOD MATHEMATICS, AND LASTLY, COLLEGE CAREER AND MILITARY READINESS.

IN ADDITION TO THESE BOARD GOALS, THEY DECIDED THAT WE SHOULD ALSO ADOPT PROGRESS MEASURES. BASICALLY WHAT THAT IS, IS THE PLAN TO ENSURE WE WILL ACHIEVE THOSE BOARD GOALS. SO LAST MONTH WE WENT OVER THE PROGRESS MEASURES FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD LITERACY AND EARLY CHILDHOOD MATHEMATICS.

AND TONIGHT WE HAVE THE PLEASURE OF LISTENING TO OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF COLLEGE CAREER AND MILITARY READINESS, MS. CORNELIA MCCOWAN, COME TO THE PODIUM.

GOOD EVENING. BOARD PRESIDENT KING, SUPERINTENDENT MS. ELLIS, TO OUR ESTEEMED TRUSTEES, I'M EXCITED TO PRESENT TO YOU OUR PLANS FOR A CCMR MOVING FORWARD. WE'RE LOOKING TO INCREASE OUR ACCOUNTABILITY FROM 46 PERCENT TO 58 PERCENT BY AUGUST OF 2025 FOR A THROUGH F ACCOUNTABILITY RATING FOR CCMR. AND LET ME EXPLAIN THE A THROUGH F ACCOUNTABILITY AND SOMETHING NEW THAT WE HAVE, WHICH ARE THE CCMR OUTCOME BONUSES.

SO WITH THE A THROUGH F ACCOUNTABILITY, WE WANT TO ENSURE THAT GRAND PRAIRIE ISD RECEIVES AN A IN THE CCMR DOMAIN.

AND SO THERE ARE 10 WAYS IN WHICH WE CAN ACHIEVE THIS GOAL FOR OUR STUDENTS AND THAT SOME OF THOSE WAYS ARE THROUGH DUAL CREDIT, AP, ON RAMPS, LEVEL ONE LEVEL TWO CERTIFICATIONS AND INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATIONS.

AND IN LINE WITH TEXAS GOAL OF REACHING 60 BY 30, TEA HAS GIVEN DISTRICTS INCENTIVES TO HELP THEM REACH THAT GOAL OF 60 BY 30 AND 60 BY 30 IS SIMPLY BY THE YEAR 2030, 60 PERCENT OF THE OF THE YOUNG ADULTS AGES 25 TO 34 WILL HAVE A POST-SECONDARY CREDENTIAL.

SO THE STUDENTS THAT ARE CURRENTLY SITTING IN OUR 10TH GRADE CLASSES ARE GOING TO BE PART OF THIS OUTCOME MEASURE.

AND SO TEA WANT TO ENSURE THEY INCENTIVIZE THE DISTRICTS.

SO IN ORDER FOR US TO REACH THE OUTCOME BONUS GOALS, WE MUST ENSURE THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE GRADUATING COLLEGE READY.

THAT MEANS THEY ARE TSI MET AND ENROLL IN COLLEGE OR THEY RECEIVE AN INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION AND TSI READY, OR THEY ENLIST IN THE MILITARY.

AND RIGHT NOW, TEA HAS SUSPENDED THE MILITARY ENLISTMENT BECAUSE THERE IS STILL IN NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE TO VERIFY THE STUDENTS THAT HAVE ENLISTED IN THE MILITARY. SO THE PROGRESS MEASURES THAT WE WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO CONSIDER PUTTING IN PLACE, WE WANT A PERCENTAGE OF OUR CCMR STUDENTS TO MEET THE THRESHOLDS FOR THE CCMR OUTCOMES BONUSES AND COLLEGE READINESS.

WE WANT TO LOOK AT A PERCENTAGE OF THE CCMR STUDENTS THAT MEET THE THRESHOLD FOR THE A THROUGH F ACCOUNTABILITY FOR CAREER READY.

AND WE WANT TO LOOK AT THE PERCENTAGE OF CCMR STUDENTS THAT MEET THE THRESHOLD FOR CCMR OUTCOME BONUS FOR MILITARY READINESS.

AND JUST A QUICK REVIEW OF OUR TSI CRITERIA.

SO IN ORDER FOR A STUDENT TO BE CONSIDERED COLLEGE READY, WE NEED TO ENSURE THAT THEY HAVE MET THE TSI REQUIREMENTS IN READING AND MATH ON THE TSI TEST OR ON THE SAT OR ACT OR A COMBINATION OF TWO OR MORE OF THOSE EXAMS. SO JUST FOR EXAMPLE, IF A STUDENT TAKES THE SAT DURING SCHOOL DAY, WHICH GPISD PROVIDES TO ALL OF OUR STUDENTS AND THEY ARE MET IN ENGLISH AND WRITING, AND THEN THEY COME BACK AND TAKE THE TSI MATH THEY WILL BE CONSIDERED COLLEGE READY.

SO IN MEASURE THREE POINT ONE FOR COLLEGE READINESS, WE'RE LOOKING TO INCREASE FROM 26 PERCENT, WHICH WAS IN 2017 TO 40 PERCENT BY 2025.

THIS MEANS THAT WE WANT TO HAVE 40 PERCENT OF THE STUDENTS THAT ENROLL IN COLLEGE BE

COLLEGE READY BY THE TSI STANDARDS.

SO THAT MEANS THAT THEY WILL HAVE THEY'RE, THEY WILL BE CONSIDERED COLLEGE READY IF THEY MEET MATH AND THE ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS ON THE TSI, ACT OR SAT AND THEY ENROLL IN COLLEGE THE FALL AFTER THEY GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL.

AND I WOULD LIKE TO BRING UP MR. WINSTON MINIX TO EXPLAIN TO YOU WHAT'S GOING ON WITH CTE AND THE PROGRESS MEASURES THAT CTE WILL HAVE IN PLACE TO ENSURE THAT WE ARE MAKING SURE THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE CAREER READY, MR. MINIX? THANK YOU, MR. MCDOWN.

OBVIOUSLY, AS WE STARTED CERTIFICATION REPORTING BACK IN 2014, 2015 GRAND PRAIRIE WAS AHEAD OF ITS TIME. WE WERE PROUD OF ALL OF THE CERTIFICATIONS THAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE EARNED OVER THE YEARS AND ALWAYS REPORTED TO THE BOARD THE GREAT SUCCESS OF OUR CERTIFICATIONS. I WANT TO POINT OUT A COUPLE OF THINGS WITH THE LIST OF CERTIFICATIONS BY YEAR. IF YOU LOOK AT THE CERTIFICATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN REPORTED, BEING THAT GRAND PRAIRIE WAS AHEAD OF ITS TIME, THE STATE INTRODUCED LOOKING AT INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATIONS IN THE 2016, 2017 SCHOOL YEAR.

I ALSO WANT TO POINT OUT DURING THAT TIME, BECAUSE IT WAS SO NEW, THE STATE LIMITED THAT LIST TO ONLY ABOUT SEVENTY THREE CERTIFICATIONS THAT SCHOOL DISTRICTS HAD TO KEEP TRACK OF. OBVIOUSLY IN GRAND PRAIRIE, BECAUSE OF OUR ROBUST CTE DEPARTMENT AND ALL OF THE CAREER PROGRAMS THAT WE OFFER, WE EXCEEDED THAT LIST OF SEVENTY THREE CERTIFICATIONS OFFERED IN OUR DISTRICT.

WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR STUDENTS WERE NOT ONLY WORKFORCE READY AND MET WITH THE STATE REQUIRED OF US.

WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY WERE EMPLOYABLE.

AND SOME OF THOSE CERTIFICATIONS THAT WE OFFER IN THE DISTRICT WERE NOT ON THAT LIST OF SEVENTY THREE THAT THE STATE ORIGINALLY CAME UP WITH.

THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT ALL SCHOOL DISTRICTS CHAMPIONED WITH AND CHALLENGED THE STATE ON WHICH TO INCREASE THAT NUMBER TO CURRENTLY TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY FIVE CERTIFICATIONS ON THAT LIST. AND I WILL TELL YOU, IT IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE.

THERE ARE STILL PROGRAMS WHERE WE OFFER CERTIFICATIONS THAT DON'T THAT DO NOT FALL ON THAT LIST. AND SO I WANTED TO SHARE THAT WITH THE BOARD TONIGHT.

I ALSO WANTED TO SHARE THAT THE LIST THAT WE REPORT, IT IS A PICTURE OF OUR NINTH THROUGH 12TH GRADERS DISTRICT WIDE.

MANY OF OUR STUDENTS GRADUATE OUR PROGRAMS WITH MORE THAN JUST ONE CERTIFICATION.

THE STATE ONLY TRACKS FOR CCMR AND A THROUGH F THE SENIOR YEAR AND ONLY ONE CERTIFICATION. SO I DID WANT TO POINT THAT OUT ON TONIGHT.

I ALSO WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU OUR NEIGHBORING SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE ONLY LOOKING AT THE TWO FORTY FIVE CERTIFICATION NUMBER.

THAT'S THE ONLY CERTIFICATIONS THAT THEY'RE GONNA OFFER IN THEIR DISTRICT.

BUT WE KNOW IN OUR DISTRICT WE WANT OUR STUDENTS TO HAVE MORE THAN WHAT THE STATE REQUIRES. SO I WANTED TO SHARE THE GOAL AND WHERE WE WERE.

SO KEEP IN MIND, THESE ARE ONLY SENIORS.

THIS IS A THIS IS A PICTURE OF THE CERTIFICATIONS THAT HAPPEN STARTING IN 2016, 2017 WITH THE LIST ABOVE JUST SEVENTY THREE.

SO IF YOU'RE LOOKING AT 2017, 2018, 2019 THE STATE ONLY REQUIRED SEVENTY THREE CERTIFICATIONS AND THAT'S ALL THEY WERE TRACKING EVEN THOUGH WE OFFERED WAY MORE FOR OUR STUDENTS. AND IF YOU LOOK AT THE GOAL SETTING FOR THE 2021 SCHOOL YEAR, 22 ALL THE WAY TO 2025, THESE ARE THE GOALS THAT HAVE BEEN PUT IN PLACE FOR US TO MOVE FORWARD, TO MAKE SURE THAT WE MEET OUR OVERALL GOAL FOR CCMR A THROUGH F ACCOUNTABILITY.

COLLEGE READINESS PARTNERED WITH TEACHING AND LEARNING TO CREATE CANVAS COURSES IN TSI BEFORE IT WAS EVEN A REQUIREMENT.

BEFORE THERE WAS AN INCENTIVE, WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY STUDENT THAT HAD AN ASPIRATION TO BE A PART OF A CAREER PATHWAY HAD A PATH TO GET THERE.

IF THEY WERE WILLING TO WORK HARD AND PUT IN THE WORK, WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THEY HAD THE TOOLS TO DO SO.

AND THROUGH A GENEROUS GRANT FROM THE GATES FOUNDATION, WE WERE ABLE TO CREATE TSI CANVAS COURSES IN MATH AND ENGLISH THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO ALL NINE THROUGH 12TH GRADE STUDENTS.

LAST MONTH I TOLD YOU WHEN I WAS WORKING WITH THE COUNSELING SERVICES THAT WE ARE BRINGING ON A PROGRAM CALLED THE TEXAS COLLEGE BRIDGE, AND WE WILL WORK CLOSELY WITH CTE TO ENSURE STUDENTS THAT ARE GOING THROUGH AND RECEIVING THEIR INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE THEIR TSI CERTIFICATION IN THE 12TH GRADE.

THE TEXAS COLLEGE BRIDGE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR OUR SENIORS AND WE ARE CURRENTLY PILOTING THAT PROGRAM AT YWLA AND GRAND PRAIRIE EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL.

AND SO FAR FOR THE FINAL PROGRESS MEASURE OUTCOME, IS OUR MILITARY READY.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY STUDENT THAT HAS THE ASPIRATION TO JOIN THE MILITARY AND SERVE OUR COUNTRY RECEIVE THE HIGHEST SCORE POSSIBLE ON THE ASVAB.

SO WE WILL CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON PROVIDING THEM ASVAB PREP THROUGH OUR COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTERS TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE SUCCESSFUL ON THEIR TEST AND ABLE TO ENLIST IN THE MILITARY BRANCH OF THEIR CHOICE.

PRESIDENT KING, SUPERINTENDENT ELLIS, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, WE ARE EXCITED TONIGHT TO DISCUSS THE UPDATES THAT IS HAPPENING IN OUR EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL NURSING ACADEMY AT GRAND PRAIRIE HIGH. I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE US A LITTLE BIT BACK SO THAT WE CAN REMEMBER.

HOW DID THE NURSING ACADEMY START? IT STARTED THE 2017 SCHOOL YEAR OF WHAT OUR FIRST COHORT OF STUDENTS, WE STARTED WITH A GRANT IN THE STATE OF TEXAS CALLED THE NEXT GENERATION EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL GRANT.

AND IT WAS A STARTUP GRANT WHICH KICKED OFF MANY OF THE PIECES THAT STARTED TODAY'S NURSING ACADEMY.

THE FIRST COHORT WAS FORTY SIX STUDENTS THAT WERE BRAVE TO BE A PART OF OUR INNOVATIVE NURSING ACADEMY.

AND SO WE WERE EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

IT WAS IT IS THE SECOND NURSING ACADEMY FOR STUDENTS IN HIGH SCHOOL IN THE STATE OF TEXAS, AND WE ARE EXTREMELY PROUD OF THAT.

[APPLAUSE] THE GRANT REQUIRED THE DISTRICT TO CREATE A LEADERSHIP TEAM, AND IT ALSO REQUIRED THE DISTRICT TO HAVE AN ADVISORY BOARD, THESE TWO TEAMS WERE VERY INSTRUMENTAL IN SHAPING WHAT IS TODAY'S NURSING ACADEMY PROGRAM.

AND SO WE'RE SO PROUD OF THE FOLKS THAT SIT ON BOTH OF THESE COMMITTEES.

THE LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE IS A COLLABORATION OF MANY DEPARTMENTS IN OUR DISTRICT.

AND SO WE BROKE DOWN THE SILOS IN ORDER TO MAKE A GREAT INNOVATIVE PROGRAM FOR OUR STUDENTS. THE ADVISORY BOARD IS A MIXTURE OF OUR HIGHER ED PARTNERS THAT I'LL TALK ABOUT BRIEFLY AS WELL AS OUR INDUSTRY, OUR INDUSTRY PARTNERS.

THE VISION OF THIS PROGRAM WAS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE OFFERED AN OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS TO GO INTO THE HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY.

WE KNOW THAT OUR STUDENTS STARTED OFF IN HERE IN GRAND PRAIRIE.

THEY BECAME A PART OF THE NURSING ACADEMY, WHICH WAS THE FIRST FORTY SIX COHORT.

AND IT WAS COUPLED WITH PARTNERSHIPS OF OUR HIGHER ED, WHICH IS DALLAS COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS IN ARLINGTON, AS WELL AS OUR GREAT PARTNERS AT BAYLOR SCOTT AND WHITE, WHICH I'LL SHARE MORE ABOUT.

THE GREAT COLLABORATION OF THAT LEADERSHIP TEAM AND ADVISORY BOARD AT THE VERY BEGINNING, WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE OFFERED THE STUDENTS OF THE NURSING ACADEMY A STATE OF THE ART LAB, SO THAT THEY WOULD HAVE ALL OF THE DIFFERENT EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES THAT WAS NEEDED TO MAKE THEM VERY SUCCESSFUL AS THEY WENT THROUGH THEIR JOURNEY, THE ANATOMAGE MACHINE. WE HAVE THREE OF THEM IN THE DISTRICT.

AND IF YOU CAN JUST KIND OF VISUALIZE THERE'S A PICTURE OF IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE THREE AT THE BOTTOM, AND IT'S LIKE HAVING AN ELECTRONIC CADAVER.

AND SO IT OFFERS OUR STUDENTS TO OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT THE ANATOMY OF THE HUMAN BODY. AND IT GIVES THEM THAT EXPERIENCE.

ANOTHER SET OF EQUIPMENTS THAT WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE STUDENTS HAVE WAS REAL SIMULATION.

WE PURCHASED A MEDICAL NURSE AND SIMULATION MANNEQUINS AND WE HAVE THREE IN OUR NURSING ACADEMY LAB. WE HAVE A PEDIATRIC ONE FOR THEM TO LEARN ABOUT BABIES AND YOUNG CHILDREN.

WE HAVE YOUNG ADULT, WE HAVE ADULT, AN ADULT MALE AND ADULT FEMALE.

AND SO THESE STUDENTS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN A SKILL SETS THAT ARE NECESSARY TO START THEM ON THEIR ENTRY LEVEL WAY.

WE ALSO WANTED TO PROVIDE HOSPITAL BEDS SO THAT THEY HAD THE REAL UNDERSTANDING AND KNOWING OF WHAT IT WOULD FEEL AND BE LIKE TO BE IN A TRUE HOSPITAL AND LEARNING THAT EQUIPMENT PIECES AS WELL.

LET'S GET TO THE FUN STUFF, OUR PARTNERSHIPS.

WE PARTNER WITH DALLAS COLLEGE.

SO BETWEEN THE 9TH AND 11TH GRADE OF OUR CURRENT STUDENTS, THEY RECEIVE EIGHTY FOUR CREDIT HOURS DURING THIS TIME FRAME.

AND SO WE ARE EXTREMELY EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

I KNOW FOR ME, OBTAINING A BACHELOR'S DEGREE, IT TOOK A WHILE TO GET TO EIGHTY FOUR CREDITS [LAUGHTER] AND FOR STUDENTS IN THE HIGH SCHOOL, THAT IS AMAZING.

AND BEFORE YOU GO ON ON THAT PARTICULAR NOTE, ON THE 84 DUAL CREDIT HOURS, HOW MUCH DID IT COST PARENTS AND STUDENTS? I'M ACTUALLY GETTING TO THAT.

[LAUGHTER] AND OUR OTHER GREAT PARTNER IS UTA.

OBVIOUSLY, THE STUDENTS TRANSITION FROM DALLAS COLLEGE OVER TO UTA TO EARN A BSN, WHICH IS THE BACHELORS OF SCIENCE IN NURSING.

AND SO WE ARE EXTREMELY PROUD OF THAT PARTNERSHIP AS WELL.

SO THE STUDENTS CURRENTLY IN OUR 12TH GRADE YEAR.

SO THIS IS OUR OUR 12TH GRADE, OUR FIRST 12TH GRADE CLASS, THEY HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED THE EIGHTY FOUR DUAL CREDIT HOURS AT DALLAS COLLEGE.

NOW THEY'RE WORKING IN THEIR FIRST SEMESTER WITH UTA EARNING 12 HOURS IN ADDITION TO THAT. AND SO WHAT THE QUESTION THAT COMES TO MIND IS IF YOU'RE LOOKING AT EARNING A BSN, IF THEY'VE ALREADY RECEIVED EIGHTY FOUR AND THEY'RE WORKING ON 12, WHAT'S LEFT? THESE STUDENTS WILL HAVE FORTY EIGHT HOURS REMAINING TOWARDS THEIR BSN AT UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS OF ARLINGTON.

AND SO WE ARE VERY SUPPORTIVE AND HAPPY OF THAT.

[APPLAUSE] AND THEN THAT NEXT QUESTION, WHAT DO WE SAVE PARENTS IN THE COMMUNITY? SO THIS IS AN ESTIMATE.

AND SO OF THE HOURS THAT THEY CURRENTLY EARN WITHOUT THE FEES THAT ARE INCLUDED, IT'S ABOUT FOURTEEN THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS THAT WE SAVE PARENTS WITH GOING THROUGH OUR PROGRAM FOR THE NURSING ACADEMY.

[APPLAUSE] I DO WANT TO HIGHLIGHT OUR GREAT PARTNERS AT BAYLOR SCOTT AND WHITE, WE HAVE BEEN PARTNERS WITH THEM OVER SEVEN YEARS NOW.

THEY HAVE PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES FOR SEVERAL OF OUR JUNIORS AND SENIORS IN THE HEALTH SCIENCE PROGRAM.

DUE TO WHERE WE ARE WITH THE PANDEMIC, WE HAD TO SUSPEND THOSE OPPORTUNITIES.

BUT I WILL TELL YOU, WHEN OUR SENIOR CURRENT SENIORS IN THE NURSING ACADEMY, BECAUSE OF THEIR PASSION, BECAUSE OF THEIR BEING ABLE TO GET THROUGH THE RIGOR AND BEING ABLE TO GET TO THEIR SENIOR YEAR, WE HAVE BEEN IN CONVERSATIONS.

I JUST ACTUALLY THIS WEEK HAD MANY CONVERSATIONS WITH THE CHIEF NURSING OFFICER AND THAT CHIEF NURSING OFFICER'S BOSS.

AND WE HAVE BEEN IN CONVERSATION TO ALLOW THESE SENIORS OPPORTUNITIES TO DO THEIR CLINICALS IN THE SPRING.

AND SO WE ARE GETTING TO THAT FINISH LINE WHERE WE WILL HAVE THAT OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR STUDENTS. SO WE'RE VERY GRACIOUS OF THAT TEAM AND THAT HOSPITAL IN IRVING FOR ALLOWING THIS, ESPECIALLY DURING THIS TIME.

OUR NURSING CURRICULUM MAP OUTLINES THE COURSES THE STUDENTS MUST TAKE TO GRADUATE WITH THE ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE FROM THE DALLAS COLLEGE.

AND IT ALSO LISTS THE COURSES REQUIRED FOR THEIR BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN NURSING FROM UT ARLINGTON.

IF YOU LOOK AT THE FOUR CHARTS, THEY SHOW THE DUAL CREDIT COURSES THAT THE NURSING STUDENTS MUST TAKE, AND SPECIFICALLY THEIR CHARTS ARE FOR GRADES NINE THROUGH 12.

THE COURSES HIGHLIGHTED IN BLUE ARE THE UTA REQUIRED SCIENCE COURSES AND STUDENTS MUST EARN A B OR BETTER IN THEM IN ORDER TO MEET THE UTA ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS.

DURING THE STUDENTS 10TH GRADE YEAR SCHEDULING BECOMES A LITTLE COMPLEX BECAUSE NOT ONLY DO THEY HAVE TO TAKE THEIR DUAL CREDIT CLASSES, BUT THEY ALSO MUST MEET THE TSI ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENT IN ORDER TO TAKE THOSE COURSES THAT YOU SEE, AS YOU CAN SEE, DURING THE 10TH AND 11TH GRADE, THE COURSES ARE RIGOROUS AND THERE ARE A LOT OF COURSES.

SO THE STUDENTS MUST GO TO COLLEGE IN THE SUMMER FOR SUMMER ONE AND SUMMER TWO.

THE 11TH GRADE STUDENTS WHO HAVE MET THE UTA REQUIREMENT WITH A GRADE GPA OF THREE POINT ZERO AND WITH THESE OF AT LEAST A B OR BETTER, ARE ALREADY REGISTERED AND HAVE BEEN ADMITTED TO THE UNIVERSITY.

THEY APPLIED FOR ADMISSION IN THE FALL OF THEIR ELEVENTH GRADE YEAR.

AND SO WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THAT.

[APPLAUSE] FROM AUGUST 2017 TO JULY 2020, THE NURSING STUDENTS EARNED A TOTAL OF ONE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND FORTY FOUR DUAL CREDIT COLLEGE HOURS, AND IF YOU CAN SEE IN THE NINTH GRADE, THEY STARTED OUT WITH TWO HUNDRED AND NINETY FOUR, BUT EACH YEAR THEY INCREASED. AND SO AS OF TODAY, THEY HAVE COLLECTIVELY EARNED A TOTAL OF ONE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND FORTY FOUR DUAL CREDIT HOURS.

[APPLAUSE] I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS SLIDE.

THE STUDENTS HAVE WORKED VERY HARD AS THEIR GPA AND RANKS INDICATE.

AND SO WE STARTED OUT WITH FORTY SIX AND NOW WE HAVE SIX.

WHEN WE STARTED IN TWENTY SEVENTEEN, THEY SAID WE WOULD ONLY HAVE THREE GRADUATING NURSING STUDENTS, BUT WE HAVE SIX.

AND I'M SO EXCITED.

[APPLAUSE] EACH GRADUATING NURSING STUDENT HAS EARNED FIVE CTE CERTIFICATIONS. AND TOMORROW THEY WILL BE COMPLETING THEIR BOARD OF NURSING BACKGROUND CHECKS. AND SO WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

IF YOU CAN SEE ON THE CHART, WE HAVE A TOTAL OF NINETY NINE NURSING STUDENTS.

COHORT FOUR HAS A TOTAL OF 40 STUDENTS.

OUR GRADUATING CLASS CONSIST OF SIX STUDENTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY ENROLLED AT UT ARLINGTON AND THE 40 STUDENTS THAT REMAIN ARE NOW EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, AND THEY ARE EARNING AND WORKING TOWARD EARNING THEIR ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE IN SCIENCE.

AND TODAY THIS EVENING, I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE TO YOU JUDITH TAPIA.

AND BEING A PART OF THE NURSING ACADEMY HAS ALLOWED ME TO TAKE MULTIPLE SCIENCE COURSES ALONG THE WAY.

THE CURRICULUM HAS BEEN EVERYTHING I IMAGINED IT WOULD BE.

AND ALTHOUGH THE COVID PANDEMIC HAS LIMITED SOME OF OUR HANDS ON TRAINING, WE'RE STILL GETTING SOME OF THE BENEFITS.

FROM 9TH GRADE UNTIL NOW, I'VE LEARNED TO PERSEVERE, MANAGE MY TIME AND CHALLENGE MYSELF.

I'VE LEARNED MANY NURSING BASICS, INCLUDING THE APPRAISAL OF LEARNING, ORAL, NON-VERBAL, WRITTEN, VISUAL AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS FOR PATIENT EFFICIENCY AND THE PRACTICE OF SAFE EVIDENCE BASED NURSING CARE.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, I'VE HAD THE BEST SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE FROM MRS. [INAUDIBLE] AND MR. BURKS, WHICH HAS HELPED ME LIVE UP TO MY TRUE AND FULL POTENTIAL AS A STUDENT.

I'M READY TO TAKE THE SKILLS I HAVE ACQUIRED AND MOVE ON TO THE NEXT STAGE OF MY CAREER AS A STUDENT AND SERVANT LEADER.

NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE FUTURE WILL HOLD, BUT I HOPE TO WORK AS A NURSE RESEARCHER OR A NURSE SCIENTIST WHERE I WILL RESEARCH, CONDUCT ANALYSIS AND PERFORM SCIENTIFIC STUDIES USING CUTTING EDGE SCIENCE.

AND RATHER THAN A SCIENTIST, THEY FOCUS MORE ON TAKING SAMPLES AND EVERYTHING LIKE THAT.

AS SMART AS YOU ARE, BE THE SCIENTIST.

UTA IS ONE OF THE TOP UNIVERSITIES IN THE NATION FOR ENGINEERING.

AND DCCD SERVES A LOT OF OUR MINORITY STUDENTS.

AND YOUNG STUDENTS THAT WE HAVE HERE, LIKE MS. TAPIA THAT ARE STARTING YOUNG.

DESPITE THE CONTACT TRACING AND SAFETY PROCEDURES IN OUR SCHOOLS, WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER OVER OUR STUDENTS GETTING IN CONTACT WITH THE PUBLIC OUTSIDE SCHOOL HOURS.

THE FEDERAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT ARE NOT IMPLEMENTING STRONG MEASURES THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO DO WITHIN THEIR POWERS AND GAVE UP ON CONTACT TRACING.

WE HAVE NO IDEA WHOSE STUDENTS AND STAFF GET IN CONTACT WITH OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL, AND MOST PEOPLE WITH THE VIRUS WILL BE ASYMPTOMATIC.

BOTH DALLAS AND TARRANT COUNTY HEALTH OFFICIALS ARE URGING SCHOOLS TO GO VIRTUAL.

IT IS NOT THE MOST EFFECTIVE AND PREFERRED WAY TO TEACH AND LEARN, BUT IT IS WAY SAFER.

IT IS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE FROM NOW UNTIL SPRING AND A LONG WAY UNTIL THE VACCINE ROLLS OUT. THANK YOU AND I HOPE YOU CAN MAKE BOLD DECISIONS FOR OUR COMMUNITY.

EMPLOYEES IN GRAND PRAIRIE ISD ARE WORKING HARDER THAN EVER, WHETHER IT BE EXTRA CLEANING OF BUILDINGS, BEING COUNSELING STUDENTS OR TEACHING THREE DIFFERENT WAYS.

IT FEELS LIKE IT'S APRIL, NOT NOVEMBER.

EMPLOYEES SMILE FOR STUDENTS TO CONVERSE POLITELY WITH PARENTS PLAN AND GRADE.

THEN WE GO HOME, DO ATTENDANCE PLAN AND GRADE FOUR HOURS MORE.

BY THE TIME WE'VE TAKEN CARE OF OUR SCHOOL DUTIES, NO ENERGY OR TIME IS LEFT TO TAKE CARE OF US, OUR FAMILIES, OUR HOMES.

TEACHERS ARE GETTING SICK DUE TO NO TIME OR ENERGY FOR SELF CARE, RESULTING IN TAKING DAYS OFF, WHICH MEANS MORE SUBS.

MORALE IS VERY LOW.

THIS IS A PROBLEM NOT JUST IN GRAND PRAIRIE DISTRICT, BUT IT'S EVERYWHERE ACROSS THE STATE OF TEXAS. THIS IS WHAT A FEW TRUSTEES AND A SUPERINTENDENT HAVE SAID CONCERNING THESE ISSUES AND THE STEPS THEY'VE TAKEN TO HELP SHOW EMPLOYEES THERE ARE THINGS TO MAKE THEM FEEL VALUED. ALL EMPLOYEES HAVE WORKED HARD DURING THE PANDEMIC.

TEACHERS OFTEN TAKE THEIR WORK HOME.

AS AN EXAMPLE, THE DISTRICTS ASYNCHRONOUS LEARNERS HAVE UNTIL ELEVEN FIFTY NINE P.M.

TO TURN IN SCHOOL WORK.

THIS IS A 24/7 JOB THAT OUR TEACHERS ARE CARRYING, DOING THE HEAVY LIFTING ON IT.

ACCORDING TO MARIBELLE, A SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE AT CORPUS CHRISTI ISD.

DUNCANVILLE ONE EMPLOYEE [INAUDIBLE] EXTRAORDINARY SERVICE FROM CUSTODIANS TO TEACHERS.

THE BOARD WANTS TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR EMPLOYEES.

THEY WENT TO THE RESERVE FUND TO SHOW GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION FOR THE HARD WORK TEACHERS AND STAFF HAVE PUT IN DURING THE CURRENT HEALTH PANDEMIC.

I THINK WE HAVE OPPORTUNITY NOW TO DO SOMETHING TO HELP SUPPORT OUR TEACHERS AND NOT JUST TEACHERS, BUT ALL OF OUR STAFF.

LEANDER FULL TIME STAFF WHO RECEIVE $800 STIPEND AND PART TIME FOUR HUNDRED.

SAN MARCOS EMPLOYEES WILL RECEIVE A 500 DOLLAR STIPEND.

DUNCANVILLE FULL TIME EMPLOYEES RECEIVE THE TWO THOUSAND DOLLAR STIPEND.

CORPUS CHRISTI RECEIVED A TWO PERCENT OF THE [INAUDIBLE] FOR ALL EMPLOYEES WITH A MINIMUM OF FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO THE LOWEST EARNING WORKERS.

MESQUITE FULL TIME EMPLOYEES RECEIVE A THOUSAND DOLLARS STIPEND AND PART TIME FOR FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS.

YOU'RE SHOWING UP DAY AFTER DAY AMIDST FEAR AND ANXIETY.

AND INSTEAD OF LETTING IT CONSUME YOU, YOU'RE MAKING THE CHOICE TO DROP IT AT THE DOOR, SO TO SPEAK, TO LET THE LOVE OF TEACHING AND THE LOVE OF YOUR STUDENTS CONQUER THAT FEAR.

I SEE THEM WORKING OVERTIME, BUT WHILE PUTTING ON VARIOUS VIRTUAL COLLEGE NIGHTS AND FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOPS, AND THEY ARE WORKING NONSTOP TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE THE MAXIMUM OPPORTUNITIES AS THEY ENTER THE NEXT STAGE OF THEIR LIFE.

I WOULD LIKE TO ONCE AGAIN CONGRATULATE HOBB WILLIAMS ELEMENTARY FOR THEIR BLUE RIBBON-- FOR THEIR NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON AWARD.

I WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE MR. CHRIS MALONE, WHO IN LESS THAN A WEEK WILL BE THE PROUD OWNER OF AN AGGIE RING.

I AM THANKFUL FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU THAT ARE HERE TONIGHT AND THOSE THAT ARE TUNED IN WATCHING. I AM THANKFUL FOR THIS BOARD.

I AM THANKFUL FOR SUPERINTENDENT.

I'M THANKFUL FOR TEACHERS.

THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN I DIDN'T THINK WE'D MAKE IT TO THANKSGIVING.

BUT WE ARE STILL HERE.

WE WILL REMAIN COMMITTED TO DOING EVERYTHING THAT WE CAN TO SUPPORT EVERYONE IN THIS DISTRICT. I KNOW THAT EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD IS COMMITTED TO OUR STUDENTS.

THEIR SAFETY IS OBVIOUSLY THEIR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY.

AND THANKFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONTINUE TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL.

IT AMAZED ME THAT I COME FROM GRAND PRAIRIE ISD MYSELF.

AND I'VE SEEN THIS EVOLUTION OF EDUCATION AS IT EXISTS IN GRAND PRAIRIE NOW.

THEY GO HOME IN TEARS, THAT VENT TO THEIR SPOUSES AND THEIR FAMILIES AND STRUGGLE TO HOLD THAT TOGETHER WHILE HOLDING THEIR CLASSROOMS AND THEIR KIDS TOGETHER.

YOUR HEALTH IS ON THE LINE.

YOUR MENTAL HEALTH IS ON THE LINE.

YOU'RE DRIVING YOURSELF CRAZY.

THERE'S SOME GREAT FOLKS THAT WORK AT TEA, BUT TEA IS NOT ALWAYS OUR FRIEND.

TEA MAKES THIS JOB SOMETIMES ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE AND VERY DIFFICULT ON TOP OF EVERYTHING THAT YOU'VE GOT TO DO, YOU KNOW, DISTRICT WISE AND WHAT'S REQUIRED FROM DISTRICT TEA JUST MAKES IT EVEN HEAVIER AND MAKES THAT LOAD ALMOST UNBEARABLE.

YOU LOSE TIME AWAY FROM YOUR FAMILIES.

YOU'RE WORKING ON WORK ALL DAY.

YOU'RE BRINGING IT HOME. YOU'RE WORKING ON IT ALL NIGHT.

YOU'RE DOING THE BEST THAT YOU CAN.

IT'S TOUGH, BUT WE KNOW YOU'RE TOUGHER.

IT'S AN IMPOSSIBLE JOB AT TIMES.

YOU KNOW, IT'S A HEAVY LOAD, BUT YOU MAKE IT POSSIBLE.

AND WE ARE VERY APPRECIATIVE AS A BOARD.

SO TEACHERS JUST KNOW, [INAUDIBLE], WE SEE YOU.
